Volunteer Opportunities

 

Cleaning and Grounds Upkeep

There is always a need for cleaning at our facility.  Walls, floors, & windows get quite a bit of wear and tear and require constant cleaning.  Please let us know if you or your group would be interested in helping us out with cleaning and/or grounds upkeep.

Meal Preparation and Service

Individuals and groups who are willing to prepare and serve meals for the emergency shelter and/or transitional living guests are a part of our ongoing hospitality need.  Be prepared to feed 125 people if you are considering preparing or serving meals in our Emergency Shelter, and 75 people if you are considering preparing or serving meals for our Transitional Living Program.  The Sunday evening meal is served to both the Transitional Living and Emergency Shelter guests in our dining facilities and on this night, be prepared for 200 guests.  If you would like to talk to someone about the quantity of food needed or our food preparation facilities please give us a call!

Public Speaking and Informational Gatherings

Public information is very important, and we are delighted to be asked to participate in mission fairs and community activities. We encourage volunteers to help represent reStart by staffing these events at churches, synagogues and community activities.

A note to our volunteers:

In order to protect the privacy of our guests, we request that no cameras be brought into our facility.  If you would like to take pictures of your group at our facility, please contact Michelle Williams at 816-472-5664, Ext. 255 to make the necessary arrangements.  We appreciate your cooperation in this area.  Volunteers are also reminded to NOT leave items in your vehicle in open view when you arrive.  Lock your vehicle!
