reStart, Inc. is committed to expanding access to safe, stable housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
In the summer of 2026, reStart significantly expanded its interim housing services by more than tripling its capacity to serve families.
The new Family Lodge features 45 fully furnished one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, each with a private kitchen and bathroom, along with welcoming shared community spaces designed to foster connection and support.
By providing families with children a safe, stable place to call home during times of crisis, reStart's Family Lodge allows parents to focus on securing employment, accessing supportive services, and building the foundation for long-term housing stability.
Our continuum of care extends beyond housing at the Family Lodge by providing comprehensive wraparound services that empower families to achieve long-term stability. Residents have access to an on-site food pantry, individualized case management, healthcare and behavioral health connections, workforce development, financial stability resources, and a welcoming community where families can build relationships, regain stability, and begin their journey home in the heart of Midtown.
Located directly along the Kansas City Streetcar line, the Family Lodge provides residents with free, reliable transportation to employment, healthcare, education, childcare, and other essential services, reducing one of the most significant barriers to achieving long-term stability.
Trained staff help children remain engaged in their education while providing parents with counseling, employment support, and individualized case management, allowing families to maintain routines, strengthen relationships, and experience a sense of normalcy as they work toward permanent housing.
