March: From the Desk of Stephanie Boyer, CEO of reStart

March is a time of movement, growth, and fresh starts—and at reStart, we are embracing that spirit as we help individuals and families take steps toward stability, hope, and a brighter future. We call it Moving March—a time when new possibilities unfold, and lives are transformed. As spring blossoms around us, we are planting seeds of opportunity and paving the way for our neighbors to move from homelessness into safe, stable housing.

Moving March: A Season of New Beginnings

March is a time of movement, growth, and fresh starts—and at reStart, we are embracing that spirit as we help individuals and families take steps toward stability, hope, and a brighter future. We call it Moving March—a time when new possibilities unfold, and lives are transformed. As spring blossoms around us, we are planting seeds of opportunity and paving the way for our neighbors to move from homelessness into safe, stable housing.

A Place of Peace and Possibility

What makes reStart unique is not just the housing we provide, but the sense of dignity, security, and peace we offer those we serve. When families arrive at our shelter, they often carry the weight of exhaustion—mentally, emotionally, and physically—from the instability of homelessness.

What they don’t always expect is the immediate relief they feel when they open the door to their own private family suite—a safe, comfortable space that includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a living area. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a place to rest, heal, and rebuild, where parents can lock the door at night, knowing their children are safe.

Building a Pathway to Stability

At reStart, we believe that moving forward is a collaborative process. Residents work closely with our case managers and support staff to create a personalized housing plan that aligns with their unique strengths and goals. Through employment assistance, financial literacy coaching, mental health resources, and more, we ensure that families don’t just exit homelessness—they build a foundation for lasting stability.

A Family’s Journey to a New Home

One story that continues to inspire us is that of a determined single mother who arrived at reStart with her four children. From day one, she was focused on building a better life for her family. She worked tirelessly with our Family Case Manager and Employment Specialist, securing a more stable job while ensuring she was there for her kids every afternoon—helping with homework, creating routines, and providing the security they desperately needed.

Over time, her hard work paid off. She saved enough to purchase a vehicle, expanding her job opportunities and increasing her family’s independence. Recently, she and her children moved into a home of their own. With the help of her case manager and a partner agency, her moving expenses were covered, ensuring a smooth transition.

The pride and joy on her face—and the faces of our team—remind us why we do this work. This is the power of stability, of hope, and of a community that believes in second chances.

Your Support Makes This Possible

Stories like this don’t happen on their own. They happen because of you.

Your generosity ensures that when a family knocks on our door, they find not just shelter, but a pathway forward. Your support fuels the services, safe spaces, and compassionate care that make life-changing transformations possible.

At reStart, we also work closely with partner agencies to minimize duplication of services, allowing us to focus on what we do best—providing pathways to stable housing while ensuring that those we serve are connected to a broader network of support.

Be Part of the Movement

As we celebrate Moving March, I invite you to join us in this movement. Whether through a one-time gift or by becoming a monthly donor, your support unlocks doors, opens opportunities, and creates lasting change for families in need.

Together, we are moving lives forward. Thank you for being part of this journey—your generosity is building brighter futures, one step at a time.

With gratitude,

Stephanie Boyer
