October: The season of change is here at reStart

October has arrived, bringing a season of growth, momentum, and transformation. At reStart, this time of year reminds us that change is possible when people come together with purpose and heart. The months ahead are full of opportunities to engage, celebrate, and support our neighbors in need.

Every effort, every event, and every moment of support helps move families from uncertainty to stability and builds a Kansas City where everyone has a safe place to call home.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Trunk or Treat:

On October 29 from 4 to 6 p.m., reStart will host its annual Trunk or Treat. Join us by hosting a trunk, bringing candy, or simply stopping by with your children to enjoy an afternoon of fun. This event is more than candy and costumes. It is a celebration of joy, community, and connection.

RŌSTRUM REFRAMED:

Join us at RŌSTRUM REFRAMED on November 6, where board member Daniel Montute will host an exclusive cultural event designed to connect with reStart’s mission in a new and inspiring way. The evening will include an intimate reception featuring large-scale art on displacement and resilience, a live artist talk, and an acoustic performance by Tirzah DeMeire. A portion of all art sales will directly benefit reStart Inc., providing vital funding for our community programs.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week:

From November 17 through November 21, reStart will launch a social media campaign to shine a light on the realities of hunger and homelessness in Kansas City. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to stay updated and learn more.

December 2 – Giving Tuesday:

This Giving Tuesday, we’re assembling kits to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness stay warm this winter season from 11 AM-2 PM. If you’re interested in hosting a donation drive to support this effort or volunteering to help assemble kits, email volunteer@restartinc.org for more information.

Big Changes Ahead!

Change is in the air, and with it comes a new opportunity. We’re expanding our impact by building more homes in Kansas City and increasing our capacity to serve three times the number of families experiencing homelessness, all while continuing to support youth, individuals, and families every day.

Can’t make it to our Giving Tuesday event? You can still make a difference. A donation of $25 helps build a warming kit for someone in need this holiday season, or provides a day of meals for a family of four in our shelter. Your generosity keeps our neighbors fed, warm, and hopeful.
